Research Associate/Assistant position focusing on brain tumor, neural stem cells and neurodevelopmental disorders!

Research Associate/Assistant positions are available at the Center for Genetic Medicine Research and Center for Cancer and Immunology Research, Children’s National Medical Center at Washington, DC. The candidate will be jointly supervised by Dr. Yuan Zhu (https://zhulab.wordpress.com/).

The candidate will conduct research focusing on Neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1)-associated brain tumor and the role of NF1 in neural stem cell regulation and high-grade glioma/glioblastoma. More specifically, the candidate will:

  • Collaborate with experimental and clinical labs to study a variety of biological and biomedical problems related to Neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1)-associated brain tumor and the role of neural stem cells and high-grade glioma/glioblastoma; 
  • Collaborate with bioinformatics team to study cancer genomics data and identify predictive biomarkers or drug targets;

Candidates will join the outstanding research community at Children’s National Medical Center, and George Washington University, and have the opportunity to interact with scientists at nearby institutions including National Institute of Health (NIH), John Hopkins University, University of Maryland, etc.

Responsibilities of the position will include but not limited to: methodology development, coding, statistical analysis of big biomedical data, writing manuscript, application to postdoctoral fellowship and communication with other researchers. 

Ideal applicants are expected to have:

  • BS degree in Biology/Genetics/neuroscience or other medical research related;
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate with other team members;
  • Research experiences in cancer biology, single-cell genomics and childhood diseases would be desirable.
