1.  Using mouse genetics to study the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying initiation and progression of tumors in both central nervous system (CNS) and peripheral nervous system (PNS).

2.  Exploring mouse models to address: (1) how tumor suppressor genes regulate the stem cell function including self-renewal, survival, differentiation and migration, (2) how inactivation of tumor suppressor genes transforms neural stem cells or endow differentiated cellswith stem cell characteristics, and (3) how normal stem cells or differentiated cells become cancer stem cells.
